YOKOHAMA and racing car designer Takuya Yura have collaborated since 2009, and in November 2010 teamed up for the 1,000-Mile No-refuel Challenge. Contestants had to drive from Shizuoka Prefecture to Yamaguchi Prefecture and back with out refueling. Yura’s car, the AeroPrius Yurastyle neo, was equipped with AAA BluEarth-1 tyres, which are specially designed to save fuel. Even though challenge
took place in November, which is not the best month of the year for optimum fuel efficiency, Yura set a new record of 1,638 km driven at an average of 36.1km/L. This achievement is a testament to both Yura’s superior aerodynamic design and the ultra-low rolling resistance of YOKOHAMA’s BluEarth-1 tyres.

In April 2011, the Eco-Car Cup 2011 was held at Fuji Speedway. Nineteen teams ![Overall Winner of the 2011 Eco-Car Cup, a Test of Both Speed and Fuel Efficiency](img/int_photo02.jpg) competed, some with professional drivers, to amass points for both speed and fuel efficiency. Among them, the AeroPrius YuraStyle neo, equipped with BluEarth-1 tyres, was overall winner in its class. One of the goals is to show new ways to have fun and still drive in an eco-friendly manner. The challenge continues.
